We know that Carpool Karaoke is one of the biggest viral sensations happening across the internet these days, and we're also pretty darn convinced that this was one of the reasons why James Corden was hired to host the Grammys in the first place. It was totally reminiscent of Ellen DeGeneres" famous 2014 Oscar selfie retweeted "round the internet, but this time, done with music inside a fake one-dimensional vehicle.
What happened next was entirely unexpected. After saying that he was contractually obligated by CBS to appear in a cardboard cutout of a auto, he walked through the crowd and gathered a pretty solid collection of singers to help him sing the Neil Diamond classic "Sweet Caroline".
Led, of course, by Neil Diamond.
Previously announced performers include Adele, Kelsea Ballerini, William Bell, Chance The Rapper, Gary Clark Jr., Daft Punk, Andra Day, Cynthia Erivo, Tori Kelly, Alicia Keys, Lady Gaga, John Legend, Little Big Town, Demi Lovato, Lukas Graham, Bruno Mars, Metallica, Maren Morris, Anderson.Paak, Katy Perry, Sturgill Simpson, A Tribe Called Quest, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban and The Weeknd. And Faith Hill and Tim McGraw! The artists seemed to mostly know the words to "Sweet Caroline", but the true highlight of the segment was when Blue Ivy gave her blessing to "Carpool Karaoke".
The outfit sported by Blue, 5, was on full display for viewers - a chic pink tux with a ruffled white shirt, a clear tribute to late legend Prince - as she sang along to the song.
