Phoenix Suns vs Detroit Pistons

Phoenix Suns look to give Detroit Pistons engine trouble at outset of road trip

The Pistons embark on a four-game road stretch beginning Tuesday in Brooklyn. Other than that, I thought the other 40 minutes of the game we defended really well and kept us in the game. I mean collecting paychecks.

The Pistons also moved to within a half-game of the Eastern Conference's eighth and final playoff spot with 12 games remaining. Tucker and the Toronto Raptors hold them to a measly 75 points, including only nine points in the 4th quarter. He ranks 5th among Pistons players and 105th among 478 players overall with a 1.0 nERD on the year. "It ended well the last 16-18 minutes of the game".

Against a starting lineup comprised of three rookies and fewer than eight seasons of combined National Basketball Association experience, the Pistons stumbled and clanked their way to a one-point first-quarter lead despite shooting just 35 percent.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (23 points, 8 assists) almost matched his 12-point halftime total in the third quarter alone, going 4 for 6 from the floor and knocking down a trio of key triples.

From there, the Pistons made 5 of 6 free throws and added to the lead, with another alley-opp from Caldwell-Pope to Drummond and a lay-in by Jackson, boosting the lead to 101-82 at the 3:32 mark - helping the fans breathe easily from what would have been a monumental loss.

Winning hasn't been a priority for the Suns since the All-Star break - or at least not for management. It seems like only a matter of time before Devin Booker develops some nagging injury that requires a precautionary week or two of rest.

PHOENIX SUNS GUARD TYLER ULIS: (On running out of gas in fourth): "I think we got a little exhausted during the game but at the same time it's no excuse". The Suns made it a 16-2 spurt, as Jarell Eddie - who signed a 10-day contract before the game - had a basket and three free throws after a foul, part of his career-high 13 points. You've got to try and finish out that game no matter what the circumstances are.

The Pistons finally shook out of their funk late in the third quarter and routed the short-handed Phoenix Suns 112-95 on Sunday.

As they've struggled through another losing season, the Suns looked to be giving the Pistons an easy win. Phoenix must be prepared for a battle on the boards, though.

Andre Drummond finished with 18 points and 18 rebounds.

(On being encouraged by great start): "I'm always encouraged by the way our guys play". Can Warren make it three bad games in a row for Morris, or will Marcus take revenge against that team that totally doesn't mean anything to him at all?

"That's a tough question", said Morris, who scored 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting.
