A single-game victor in next Wednesday's game will have the option of walking away with a cash option prize of $72.7 million.
The victor chose to remain anonymous but the representative shared a little bit about the lucky man.
The lottery has scheduled a 4 p.m. Monday afternoon news conference in Indianapolis after announcing Friday that a victor had claimed the February 22 jackpot. He works at a Lafayette manufacturing facility and considers the city his home, though he isn't originally from there.
Indiana's newest multi-millionaire claims his prize.
"The victor is very family orientated and close with his siblings and parents".
CNN Money noted that five of the 10 largest Powerball jackpots have come since the start of previous year because of a new formula in October 2015 that gives players have more numbers to choose from.
Dzwonar said spurred by the excitement of a large Powerball jackpot, the victor bought his ticket on the day of the drawing. The victor says he plans to help his family, travel and donate money to charity.
"He remembered the Powerball was 2 and he had hit 2 on one of the tickets", Dzwonar said.
The winning numbers were: 10-13-28-52-61. The ticket was sold at a family-owned Super-Test gas station in Lafayette.
While there was no grand prize victor, one player matched all five white numbers drawn to win $1 million.
"We know there are lots of rumors going around Lafayette", she said.
