The launching programme was attended by Cabinet Ministers, Parliamentary Secretaries, and MLAs; Chief Secretary, O Nabakishore; Principal Secretary (Planning), Vineet Joshi; Commissioner IT, PK Singh; and other top ranking government officials. Jayentakumar alleged that the manner in which the health director was suspended was interference in his work as a minister in-charge of the department.
Manipur Health Minister L Jayantakumar Singh on Saturday resigned from his position citing government interference in the ministry, as reported by news agency ANI. Mr. Singh also overlooked the Health Minister's recommendation for interim Health Director.
Addressing a formal function of launching the websites, N Biren stated that the new Government has taken such a daring step to transform the entire system of public services through the use of information technology with a commitment to bring transparency, accountability and a corruption-free society to the people of the State.
The Chief Minister has not made any comment on the issue so far.
However, he said, "I may not be able to get (the) visions materialized as expected since there have been so many interference to my authority. Before leaving Imphal yesterday (Friday), he (chief minister) called me over phone and asked the reason", Jayentakumar said. However, Biren kept it with him.
The two militants - self-styled "Sergeant Major" Salam Sitoljit (28) a resident of Uripok Khumanthem Leikai and self-styled "Corporal" Pebam Bishorjit (24) a resident of Kiyamgei Awang Leikai surrendered before the chief minister, a state government press release said.
NPP MLA Jayantakumar Singh resigned as minister, a month after taking oath along with the chief minister on March 15.
