The characters won't be timebound either- which means Rey vs Darth Maul is absolutely a matchup that can happen.
The story mode to the game will be based around the "untold story of Iden Versio, an elite Stormtrooper" in charge of an Imperial unit named Inferno Squad.
The most interesting reveal here is that we'll be able to fight across the different eras of Star Wars, which sounds great, but no doubt is going to be a challenge for developers. Don't forget that it is triple VIP points on purchases for a limited time only.
On the multiplayer side, Battlefront II will be expanding to include matchups from the entire Star Wars saga, instead of just the original trilogy (as in the 2015 game).
To bridge that gap, Marvel and Star Wars are releasing a 4-issue miniseries titled Star Wars: Captain Phasma, which is part of their larger "Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi" event.
While the internet may be a buzz over the new Star Wars trailer, another video dropped that will get you right in the feels. There will also be a new progression system, a larger arsenal of weapons and modifications, and hero customization abilities. The game will feature a single-player campaign, 40-player multiplayer matches, and will include content from all three eras of the Star Wars story. You'll also get to play as iconic Star Wars heroes - with the develoeprs revealing that you'll be able to put down the blaster and pick up a lightsabre to play as Luke Skywalker and Kylo Ren too: "You'll step into the shoes of these heroes and experience a new chapter in their lives". Upgrades for snipers, engineers, troopers, and other classes will be available to give the players' characters an edge on the battlefield.
Sony has also created a special Battlefront II edition of the PlayStation 4 Pro, two of which were given away during the panel at Star Wars Celebration.
