And here I thought I was excited when the National Football League announced the 2017 preseason schedule.
The Steelers play their first home game since the death of their revered, longtime owner, Dan Rooney. This year they are not asking for the road opener but instead are hoping to start the season at home.
Packers at Falcons, Sept. 17 at 7:30 p.m.
Week 7: Sunday, Oct. 22 vs. Atlanta Falcons, 8:30 p.m.
There are requisite home-and-home slates against the AFC West, a full turn in the AFC and NFC East.
Week 9: Sunday, Nov. 5, at Miami (Sunday Night Football), 5:30 p.m. (NBC) Comment: The Raiders finished a two-game road trip last season with consecutive wins.
Detroit Lions president Rod Wood leaked the release date last week during the team's uniform unveiling, but the time remained unknown until now. They did commit to pay their upgraded offensive line $57 million in cash this season, an NFL high and more than twice the league average, and they have the draft capital to add a premier defensive player and a franchise quarterback next week if they choose to. The 2017 season will mark the first time since then that a team didn't play at least once on Thursday. I suspect those two things are related.
What games are you looking forward to the most?
New England, as champions do these days, will host the season-opening game. The Super Bowl rematch comes Sunday night, October 22. All that before a Week 3 home game against the Texans, who the Patriots eliminated in the playoffs last season.
Francesa just announced the #Giants 2017 schedule on air.
The Ravens will open against the Cincinnati Bengals, Browns and Jaguars, who all combined for a.219 winning percentage in 2016.
It will begin in Week 11 with a "home" game against the Patriots in Mexico City. They will play their first game at new Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Week 2, when they host the Green Bay Packers in a nationally televised night game on Sunday, Sept. 17.
One waiting game is about to end, and with it, Vikings fans will be provided with details on all 16 regular-season games. Those teams had a combined.700 winning percentage last season, making the Bills' December the worst month that any team will face.
No NFL teams get to approve the schedule as it is all done within the NFL offices. The NFL doesn't automatically give teams a bye week after the overseas trip but that is how it has worked out.
