The singer Cuba Gooding Sr. died this Thursday in Los Angeles, California, reveals TMZ.
He is the father of Cuba Gooding Jr., an Oscar-winning actor. "We're told the fire department responded to the scene at 12:58 PM PT and attempted CPR, but could not resuscitate him".
We're told police found empty booze containers in the vehicle, and suspect he died from an overdose.
There were several bottles of alcohol and drug paraphernalia inside the legendary singer's auto according to a report from the office of Los Angeles County coroner.
Police are still investigating the cause of his death, but say there were no signs of foul play. The results of a toxicology report have yet to be determined.
Gooding's solo output included three albums, The 1st Cuba Gooding Album (1978), Love Dancer (1979) and Meant to Be In Love (1993) which he recorded after interest in the Main Ingredient peaked with the release of Aaron Neville's cover of Everybody Plays the Fool. There's no doubt that Gooding's memory will live on through these songs.
Earlier this year, Gooding Jr spoke about his father during an episode of Inside the Actors Studio.
He said one of his earliest memories was his father performing at Disneyland. However, they remarried in 1995 over 21 years after they first separated. It was a lot of feeling like, "I come from royalty'". People reported that he and his wife, Shirley, had four children together, including actors Cuba Gooding Jr. and Omar Gooding, a daughter named April and Tommy, a musician. Alongside it he simply wrote, "Eternal".
