One person died Friday morning after a van rear-ended a school bus in the Town of Salem near Kenosha police say

A vehicle and a school bus were involved in an accident in Kenosha County Friday morning, authorities said.

A van rear-ended a school bus in the 24500 block of Wilmot Road around 9 a.m., the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department said.

The sheriff's office told WISN 12 News a van hit the back of a bus that was stopped.

Highway C is closed between Highway 83 and 258th Avenue both east and westbound and will remain closed as the investigation continues.

Two students were taken to an area hospital for minor injuries, according to Sgt. Klinkhammer. About 20 students were on the bus. The van's driver died. The other student passengers were taken to Trevor Fire Department to be picked up by parents or released to school officials.

A portion of Highway C is closed during the investigation.
