Mourinho hits out at Premier League

Southampton missed a penalty as they held a makeshift Manchester United side to a 0-0 draw in a tepid Premier League clash on Wednesday.

Saints chairman Ralph Krueger has refused to offer assurances surrounding the Frenchman's future despite him leading them to the brink of an eighth-placed finish and this partly demonstrated why.

Jose Mourinho has confirmed Manchester United's Zlatan Ibrahimovic and his fellow injured team-mates will attend the Europa League final, but the Portuguese does not believe opponents Ajax should be there at all.

Mourinho said Axel Tuanzebe, who has started United's last three league games, would be involved, along with his fellow academy graduates Demetri Mitchell, Scott McTominay, Matty Willock, Josh Harrop and Zachary Dearnley.

The result means United can finish no higher than sixth with one game remaining and must rely on winning the Europa League final against Ajax to seecure a Champions League berth. I never saw. I never saw.

"I try to analyse the realities before I arrived in the club, but you only know the reality when you are inside", Mourinho told Omnisport. I never saw. It's just a lost battle; we have to accept the way it is.

"It will be important to recover after this game because we play every three days and it will be hard to prepare this game but the last game at home in front of our home fans I hope a good reward for the players".

"They showed me they want to be an option and they gave everything they have but we still have the Sunday match".

"I hope to play Sergio in the final and hopefully we don't have problems with the keepers". Southampton's wait for a home goal moved past the six-hour mark, hardly a great statistic for under-pressure manager Claude Puel.

United make four changes in total from their defeat to Tottenham last time out, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Marouane Fellaini and Matteo Darmian returning to the starting XI.
