The Kings could still get some good talent at the fifth and tenth overall selection.

The Boston Celtics received a timely boost on the eve of their Eastern Conference showdown with Cleveland on Tuesday, May 16 (Wednesday in Manila) after discovering they will command the first pick in this year's National Basketball Association draft. And they still get one more first-round pick next season from the Nets, who likely will miss the playoffs again.

"This is pretty good", said Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck. Let's just hope he makes the right move with this pick.

"I think there's gonna be probably fifty kids that are going to be in this draft that are going to be really well known".

After landing the No. 2 overall pick, Los Angeles is widely expected to draft UCLA point guard Lonzo Ball.

"That's all we working out for is the Lakers", LaVar Ball said, via

The Boston Celtics had the top seed in the East.

Russell has the versatility to play shooting guard should Los Angeles choose to move him off-the-ball alongside Ball, but the other option is to trade Russell considering he is a skilled, 21-year-old point guard with plenty of potential. "This is what Brooklyn wanted to do, wanted to go all on it, chase a championship". With Phoenix now picking fourth, they will lose out on top point guard prospects Markelle Fultz and Lonzo Ball.

The Boston Celtics now hold the first overall selection in this year's NBA Draft - a pick they likely will not hold on to. The Nets finished with the league's worst record at 20-62 under first-year general manager Sean Marks, who replaced Billy King in February 2016.

The Kings have two picks, five and ten, and have needs at point guard and small forward. "I found it somewhat interesting, but not enough to jump and make a decision today".

In the weeks leading up to the June 22 draft, there could be any number of trades, with individual workouts allowing teams to get a better gauge of players who may not have worked out at the draft combine last week or executives getting their first up-close look.

The Magic got the sixth pick, followed by the Timberwolves, the Knicks and the Mavericks. NY is a little bigger than Minnesota, so that gives me hope that, at the very least, the later selections are not as rigged as the top three to five.

In the end, the Celtics and Lakers were the big victor on lottery night. But they are still very much underdogs to the defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers.
