A spokesperson for the Austin Police Department told TODAY via email that officers were dispatched to a location at 2:10 a.m. on Monday after receiving a call about an unresponsive male. They say Nance was pronounced dead less than an hour later.

Nance appeared on the eighth season of the hit reality series, where he competed for Emily Maynard's heart. A cause of death has yet to be determined, but according to People, an autopsy will be performed Tuesday and toxicology results will reportedly take weeks.

During his run on The Bachelorette, local news station KAMC caught up with Nance's mother, who revealed about his experience on the show: "He said it was the best thing that ever happened to him".

And Tony Pieper told E! "Such a kind heart with so much talent", she wrote. "My thoughts are with his family and friends", he tweeted.

ABC has yet to release a statement addressing the sad news, but we have reached out and will update this post accordingly. He was a sweet man with a kind soul.

We send our thoughts and condolences to Michael's loved ones during this hard time. "Sending prayers and love to his family and friends", Maynard wrote. Arie Luyendyk Jr. added, "I will always remember my friend Michael Nance for his kind and fragile soul". Gia Allemand, who also competed in Season 14, took her own life after a fight with her National Basketball Association star boyfriend Ryan Anderson.

Kalon McMahon agreed with that sentiment, writing, "He was one of the nicest and most genuine guys in the house. We all loved him on 'Bachelorette'". "He was wonderful. He was a gentle giant".
