Gas prices continue to drop in Florida and that could continue in the days to come. At the start of this week, gas prices averaged $2.27 across the Sunshine State, dropping 6 cents from the start of last week and 3 cents below where things stood at this time past year. The lowest state average so far this year was $2.26 on March 20.
The Dearborn-based auto club says late Sunday the average price for self-serve regular unleaded gasoline was about $2.32 per gallon. Florida gas prices averaged $2.27 on Monday, dropping 6 cents during the past week - and 3 cents less than this time previous year.
AAA Michigan surveys daily fuel prices at 2,800 gas stations across the state.
"The plunge at the pump comes as oil prices took a pounding for the third week in a row", Jenkins said. "Markets moved lower after another round of supply data showing high USA and global refinery production".
Motorists are beginning to find some of the lowest gas prices of the year.
Florida ranked fifth among states with the biggest weekly decline, according to AAA.
The Detroit-area's average was down about 6 cents from last week to about $2.35 per gallon. Miami followed at $2.33 with Fort Lauderdale right below it with an average of $2.32.
