The cost to fill up in the Palmetto State is now below $2 a gallon for the first time since a brief appearance at that mark in March and remains lowest in the nation.
Including the change in gas prices in Sacramento during the past week, prices yesterday were 18.4 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 5.8 cents per gallon lower than a month ago.
Nationally, the average price of fuel Sunday was $2.30, down from $2.33 a week earlier, while Georgia's average price of $2.16 was down three cents in the same period, the auto club said.
Average retail gasoline prices in OH have fallen 9.1 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.12 per gallon on Sunday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 5,345 gas outlets in Ohio. The price on Monday edged up a penny or so on both gas price services. The national average has decreased 7.1 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 5.8 cents per gallon lower than this day one year ago.
Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst with GasBuddy.com says you'll be paying higher gas prices leading into the July 4 holiday.
New Haven- $2.42/g, down 4.3 cents per gallon from last week's $2.47/g. At the same time, US shale oil producers have ramped up production, adding to stockpiles and keeping prices in check.
Waterbury- $2.36/g, down 6.5 cents per gallon from last week's $2.42/g.
