While police investigation is in process, the girl's brother claimed that one person has been arrested.

The incident took place on June 16. "The two youths, whom I had recognised, pushed me out of the train and I became unconscious again", she said.The victim had appeared for Class X state board examination from Lakhochak school recently.

Initial information about what exactly happened after she was forcibly taken away by the men remained unclear, with some reports saying that she was forced into a railway train, raped and then thrown out of the train at the Kiul station.

After raping the girl, the offenders made a decision to throw the victim at mildly populated Kiul Junction in Lakhisarai station under Danapur division of East Central Railway in an attempt to avoid arrest and suspicion.

The victim was found unconscious near Kiul railway station by some locals. "The victim is still critical but we are hopeful that her condition will improve", said a hospital official, according to The Indian Express.

On the other hand, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has assured the girl of bringing the perpetrators to justice.

The victim's brother said that the family realised that she was missing at around 3am on Saturday. "It is a heinous crime". They took her to a medical centre from where she was moved to Patna Medical College and Hospital.

Doctors said her condition was deteriorating. "Necessary action is being taken and the accused can not be spared", he said. Sub-Divisional Police Officer Pankaj Kumar was quoted as saying by news agency ANI, "A group of six men are believed to have been involved in the incident".
