Baby 'piercing' photo sparks debate on social media

Enedina Vance, a mother of six kids from OH posted a picture of her six-month-old daughter on Facebook which sparked an outrage among netizens.

The photo has been shared more than 13,000 times on Facebook, and has resulted in a flood of abusive comments from people who thought the photo was real. She stated that she wanted to shock parents and bring attention to the topic of parents altering their children's bodies, and whether this is right or wrong, using the fake piercing to highlight that while many would object to this, they would not object to something like circumcision in the same way.

Enedina Vance took to Facebook on June 28 likely expecting a variety of reactions from other users with a picture of the piercing, which she later revealed to fake as part of a social experiment.

The paragraphs-long caption read in part: "It looks so cute, right?!" Some even threatened to call a police or child protection services.

"I'm the parent, she is MY CHILD, I will do whatever I want!" she wrote in the post.

"I make all of her decisions until she's 18, I made her, I own her!" At first glance, it appears she has a diamond stud pierced to one of her dimples.
