Disney Announces The Lead Actors For Guy Ritchie's Live-Action Aladdin

The three cast members were announced at the D23 Expo on Saturday.

Just a few days ago, reports (that came from outside Disney itself) alleged that the studio was having some trouble casting the main actors for its new live action Aladdin.

Another up and coming young actor will play Aladdin himself.

Mena Massoud is about to star in the upcoming Jack Ryan TV series but will become a major global heartthrob when he steps into the iconic Disney hero role. The duo join the only other talent cast for the Disney musical, Will Smith, who will be playing the Genie. In the animated Aladdin, Robin Williams voiced the character and created one of the most famous Disney Animated characters.

With Guy Ritchie at the helm, there's still reason to worry a touch about how delicately the storyline will be handled and if it will turn into some campy, overtly masculine film but considering he's also a hit or miss, there's room to be optimistic.

John August, whose credits include "Big Fish", wrote the new "Aladdin" script. Dan Lin, who produced Ritchie's two "Sherlock Holmes" movies for Warner Bros., is also producing "Aladdin" through his Lin Pictures company.

Scott was most recently seen as the Pink Ranger in Saban's "Power Rangers". She is repped by WME, United Agents and Echo Lake Entertainment.
