Barcelona suggest they will wait for Paris Saint-Germain's Marco Verratti

Barcelona technical secretary Robert Fernandez plays down suggestions that Neymar could engineer a move away from Camp Nou.

However, PSG have so far refused to open negotiations with Barca and as things stand the midfielder looks set to remain at the Parc des Princes.

Valverde said in a press conference that the club is working on improving the squad, but he is not thinking about getting any new players as he is focusing on those he already has in the team. Obviously we've had discussions but to ask for "this player", no. "I am really happy with them and the idea of getting to know them better".

Questioned on Barca's interest in Brazilian midfielder Paulinho, Valverde stuck to the same line, saying: "It's hard to improve what we have in the team".

Sporting director Fernandez also confirmed Barca will be pursuing transfers up until the very last minute. "For me, the best signings are those who are in my team", he said.

Paris Saint-Germain new boy Dani Alves has urged Marco Verratti to snub FC Barcelona and stay with the French giants.

"Barca are always monitoring the best players".

The 21-year-old Alli was in phenomenal form for Spurs last season, scoring 22 goals from 50 appearances for the club and won the PFA Young Player of the year award for a second consecutive season.
