Florida sinkhole stops expanding after swallowing homes

Pasco County officials said in a news release that families from four of the homes that were initially evacuated were allowed to return Saturday evening. That's what ended up in the 50-foot deep sinkhole that opened up near Lake Padgett in Pasco County Friday.

A massive sinkhole in Land O' Lakes, Florida has swallowed two homes and continues to grow.

There was no change in the size of the sinkhole on Sunday, according to Pasco County spokesperson Kevin Guthrie.

To be sure and to quell any fears about contamination, the county will test nine homes in the immediate vicinity of the sink hole on Monday. So far, no injuries have been reported.

The site is being viewed as an unsafe materials episode as a result of conceivable septic tank issues and debris.

The road suddenly comes to a halt as the sinkhole appears to have taken part of the street away along with the home.
