"The highly anticipated "#Star Wars: "#The Last Jedi" revealed 6 new teaser character posters at D23 Expo last Saturday. You also get to see new characters, new creatures, new settings, and what looks to be a couple of between-shot dance parties. The posters feature the late Carrie Fisher as Leia, Daisy Ridley as Rey, Mark Hamil as Luke Skywalker, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, Oscar Isaac as Poe, and John Boyega as Finn.
The first footage from the eighth installment of the "Star Wars" movie series has recently been released by Disney, showing Finn and new character Rose (Kelly Marie Tran) both being imprisoned and undercover as First Order officers. Plot details of The Last Jedi are a closely-guarded secret, so it's not known yet whether Kylo will come face-to-face with his mother, or whether Leia will be reunited with her brother Luke Skywalker, who was briefly glimpsed at the end of The Force Awakens and figures heavily in The Last Jedi. And like the first trailer, the behind-the-scenes footage is also hinting on a darker tone of the film.
The title Star Wars: The Last Jedi carries a lot of intrigue, and director Rian Johnson has only fueled the fires of speculation with his comments about what it could mean.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is set to be released in theaters on December 15, 2017.
Rian Johnson's hesitancy to commit to the idea that Star Wars: The Last Jedi "wraps up" Leia's story could be read as leaving the door open on Carrie Fisher returning for Star Wars 9 in some form, CGI or otherwise.
