The smartphone will be competing against the likes of Xiaomi Redmi 4 and Moto E4. Similar to how the Yu Yureka Black was made available, there are variants with Chrome Black and Matte Black finish on the back.

The Canvas 1 follows the recently announced Micromax Canvas 2.

Apart from the traditional one-year manufacturer's warranty, Micromax is also offering a 100-day replacement promise on issues pertaining to hardware. The smartphone will be available for purchase across e-commerce portals as well as conventional brick and mortar stores in the country.

Going by its design and specs, the Micromax Canvas 1 seems like a decent buy at the reasonable cost of Rs. 6,999. In the case of any issue with the device, the company says the smartphone will be replaced, no questions asked. Instead, it features touch enabled menu buttons. The rear houses the horizontal camera setup with flash.

Micromax has launched a new smartphone under the Canvas series and this budget phone, the Micromax Canvas 1 comes for the price of Rs. 6999. The device is powered by a MediaTek MT6737 quad-core chipset clocked at 1.3Ghz. Accompanying the processor, the phone packs in 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

In the camera department, there is an 8-megapixel rear camera with Dual-tone LED Flash, f/2.2 aperture, 1.4um Pixel Size, 80-degree wide-angle lens and a 5-megapixel shooter up front with LED flash, 85-degree wide-angle lens for selfies and video calls. It comes with a 5-inches display and runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. There is also a 2500 mAh battery to power the device.

In terms of connectivity, the dual-SIM Canvas 1 offers various connectivity options including 4G VoLTE connectivity, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS/A-GPS, USB OTG, a 3.5mm audio port, and a microUSB 2.0 port for charging and data transfer.
