MP CM Chouhan, LoP Ajay Singh cast vote in presidential poll

"All the 228 MLAs in the electoral list cast their votes with special pens provided to them by 3.05 pm, nearly two hours before the polling to close", an Election Commission (EC) official told PTI. MLAs of Madhya Pradesh's various constituencies were also seen lined up awaiting their turn to cast their votes.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday cast his vote amid the ongoing Presidential election, in the capital city Bhopal.

The two contestants for the post of the countrys next president are NDAs candidate Ram Nath Kovind and the oppositions Meira Kumar.

Besides Chouhan and Singh, state Assembly Speaker Dr Sitasharan Sharma, Deputy Speaker Rajendra Singh and almost 12 ministers cast their votes for the presidential election.

Following the ink controversy in the Rajya Sabha polls in Haryana a year ago, the Election Commission made a decision to use special pens for the electors to mark their votes in the presidential election.

There are 29 Lok Sabha MPs and 12 Rajya Sabha members from Madhya Pradesh.
