Ohio State pads top recruiting class with No. 39 Jeremy Ruckert

Jeremy Ruckert, the nation's No. 1 tight end, announced via a Blecher Report video Monday afternoon that he'll be playing college football at Ohio State.

Ruckert, from Lindenhurst (N.Y.) High, chose the Buckeyes from a group of finalists that also included Michigan, Notre Dame and Wisconsin.

He becomes the 15th member of Ohio State's class, which is now ranked No. 1 in the country in 247Sports' composite rankings. All but one commitment for Ohio State is ranked in the ESPN 300, and 10 of the 14 are ranked in the top 100 of the ESPN 300.

Ruckert had 30 offers from colleges - which included Alabama, Texas, Florida, and OR, among others - but narrowed his choice to a final four of Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, and Wisconsin.

The 6-foot-6, 240-pound Ruckert will be the best tight end prospect Urban Meyer has signed at Ohio State, besting players like Marcus Baugh (2013), Jake Hausmann and Luke Farrell (both in 2016).
