Opposition leader Khursheed Shah hails Panama case ruling

Opposition Leader Khurshid Shah on Sunday called a session of opposition parties to nominate their prime ministerial candidate.

The opposition parties' session is to be held on Monday (tomorrow) at Shah's chamber in the morning.

On the flip side, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had solicited support from Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)'s parliament members to support Shahbaz Sharif during the party's parliamentary meeting at Punjab House on Saturday. "I had been asking Muhammad Nawaz Sharif from the day one that Parliament is the source of strength for him so he should deal it with respect and dignity" he said.

Sharif also announced that Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will be the interim candidate for the premiership until incumbent Punjab Chief Minister gets elected from National Assembly seat.

A new schedule for the new prime minister selection has already been issued by the National Assembly Secretariat. He hailed the Supreme Court's ruling which disqualified Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for life in the Panama papers case, saying independent and right decisions of the institutions make the state and system stronger.

According to the schedule, nomination papers for the slot of prime minister can be obtained by 3pm today. The papers need to be submitted back to the assembly secretariat by 2pm on Monday. It implied he was not "honest" and "truthful", as per the country's Constitution.
