It was only a matter of time before the two brothers behind such cult classics as "Fargo", "The Big Lebowski", 'O Brother, Where Art Thou?' and countless others chose to jump on the band wagon and do their very own TV show for Netflix.
Oscar-winning filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen are transitioning to the small screen with a new Western anthology for Netflix Inc, the online streaming company said on Wednesday, the latest talent to join the platform's growing roster.
The Western anthology will feature six tales about the American frontier told through the unique and incomparable voice of Joel and Ethan Coen. Tim Blake Nelson, who worked with the Coen brothers in 2000's O Brother, Where Art Thou? Although they are executive producers of the series, the Cohen brothers did not write the script and did not direct an episode of it.
The Ballad of Buster Scruggs is an Annapurna Television production and will premiere in 2018.
Cindy Holland, Netflix's vice president for original content said: "The Coens are visionary directors, masterful storytellers, and colourful linguists".
