Police in Austin have released surveillance video showing a auto plunging seven stories from a downtown parking garage and striking another vehicle as it lands in an alley.
A BMW plunged 7 stories from a Texas garage last month and crashed front-first into the alley below. The video shows a large Chevrolet SUV patiently doing a three-point-turn in the Littlefield parking lot in Austin when, all of a sudden, a vehicle crashes down from above. Amazingly, both drivers in the BMW and SUV were OK.
The BMW then came to rest on its roof as nearby construction workers and bystanders came to the aide of the driver.
On Sept. 9, 2016, a 24-year-old man crashed through the barriers on the top level of the same parking garage. KXAN reported the Austin Code Department issued the property a violation on September 14, 2016, citing unsafe conditions, specifically unsafe barrier cable systems.
