Emergency crews are on the scene of a deadly helicopter crash in Albemarle County.

The helicopter went down in the area of Old Farm Road in Albemarle County around 5 p.m., killing two occupants, according to a statement released by the Virginia State Police.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. At least one person was killed and 19 injured when a vehicle plowed into a group of counter-protesters.

The Bell 407 helicopter crashed seven miles southwest of Charlottesville, the FAA confirmed to CBS News. Images from the scene showed part of an aircraft in a tree.

The helicopter caught fire after it hit the ground.

ABC15 reporter Kaley Lawrimore writes that fatalities are feared.

It's unclear if the crash was related to Saturday's violence, in which one person was killed after a silver Dodge Charger plowed into a crowd of counter protesters. According to Bragg, the helicopter crash is believed to have been a VSP helicopter working the protest.
