In her last match, Wozniacki survived a grueling three sets and three rain delays to record her first ever win over a World No.1 against Karolina Pliskova.
The sixth seed was able to comfortably get the better of Stephens, who can take great heart from reaching the semis in only her third tournament of an injury-plagued campaign.
Having dropped only one game in her victory over Barbora Strycova, Halep was a convincing victor once again as she eased past Caroline Garcia 6-4 6-2.
Former champion Caroline Wozniacki cruised into the WTA Toronto final on Saturday with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over a resurgent American Sloane Stephens. Halep, the No. 2 seed, beat Caroline Garcia 6-4, 6-2 while Svitolina, the No. 5 seed, topped fourth-seeded Garbine Muguruza 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.
Speaking after the victory, the 27-year-old said: "Almost every tournament I've played this year there has been a rain delay so at this point I just have to laugh because I feel like it is following me". Halep defeated Garcia 6-4, 6-2.
