Indianapolis Colts fans are starting to get anxious about Andrew Luck and his surgically-repaired shoulder, but the team finally provided a positive update on Sunday. Irsay wouldn't guarantee that Luck would be under center for the team's season opener, but he does think he will be ready to play near the beginning of the season.
Another interesting nugget from Irsay's time addressing the media was when he revealed that the Colts considered bringing in another veteran quarterback, but the price was apparently too high.
Following a 24-10 loss in Sunday's preseason opener, Irsay said it's still uncertain whether Luck will be ready for the Colts' regular-season opener September 10 at the Rams. The Colts don't want to rush Luck back into action and have no timetable for his return.
None of the Colts' backup quarterback options looked promising in Sunday's preseason game. Scott Tolzien went 2 for 5 for 24 yards, Phillip Walker went 9 for 20 for 86 yards, and Stephen Morris went 13 for 20 for 94 yards.
He also said Luck is "doing really well".
