Our sources tell us that although heart-related issues were a contributing factor to his recent hospital stay, Flair had compounding medical issues that required immediate attention.
Wendy Barlow, who has been engaged to "The Nature Boy" since July 2016, wrote in a post on Facebook to explain the complications Flair was experiencing.
Flair, 68, who wrestled for four decades during stints in WCW and WWE, has been hospitalized since the night of August 11 after he complained of abdominal pain. "From that moment on it all seems like a nightmare ... multiple organ problems", she said in the post.
Barlow did not go to any more detail about what the "problems" were, but the sentence alone is enough to describe the severity of the situation.
Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer reported Tuesday that Flair underwent colon surgery to remove a blockage.
"On behalf of my family and I, we want to THANK everyone for the prayers, texts, calls and support", Charlotte said. Over the weekend Ric Flair was checked into the ICU for what was described as "routine monitoring" but reports regarding Ric's status made it clear that there was more to the 16 time World Champion's hospital visit. Fans rejoiced upon hearing the news of the successful surgery, thinking the worst was behind one of the greatest wrestlers of all time.
Michael Hayes, a longtime friend of Flair and now on the creative team for WWE, tweeted that he saw Flair on Sunday.
