While he wouldn't offer specifics, he also revealed that Marvel TV was working again with ABC - which it has partnered with on Inhumans - on a new female-focused show now in development.
At the Edinburgh TV Festival, Marvel Television's Senior VP of Original Programming Karim Zreik revealed that a female-focused show, which he described as "Jessica Jones-esque", was in development, though no further details were provided.
While Marvel's big-budget features are generally based in Atlanta, the company's TV output has focussed production in NY, although the scope is now expanding westward with upcoming series Cloak & Dagger based in New Orleans.
"Comedy is something we really want to go into", Zreik said, highlighting the success of Guardians of the Galaxy for Marvel on the big screen. "It took us time to dip our foot in the comedy pool". According to Zriek, the studio isn't set out to develop series like The Office and Parks and Recreation, saying that Marvel TV would "never do an office comedy". Not long after the initial announcement of AKA Jessica Jones, Marvel's Head of Television Jeph Loeb announced that a series featuring Bobbi Morse's eponymous Mockingbird was in development with ABC Family (now Freeform). Zreik is a co-executive producer of the first seasons of Jessica Jones and Luke Cage and the second season of Daredevil.
