Federal aviation officials say a small plane made an emergency landing shortly on a Utah highway and struck a auto shortly after taking off from a nearby airport.

He was taken to the hospital, as was the woman driving the vehicle.

It happened shortly after the plane left an airport north of Salt Lake City, Utah on Tuesday.

Kenitzer said the FAA is still investigating why the pilot of the Beech A24 Sierra aircraft crashed shortly after leaving the Ogden-Hinckley Airport.

Roy police said the pilot was helped out of his plane after crashing, but walked away on his own power. The driver was a 42-year-old woman.

The Ogden-Hinckley Airport confirmed the crash but did not have information on injuries.

Police say a small plane struck a vehicle when it crashed into a neighborhood in the northern Utah city of Roy near the Ogden-Hinckley Airport. "But it was a plane", said friend Rachel Price.

Tuesday's crash was less than a mile from the scene of a similar crash in July, when a small plane crashed on another highway, narrowly missing cars but killing two vacationing couples on board the aircraft.

Gwynn says police have closed off streets in the area.
