Sinead O'Connor Has a Snappy Answer to Dr. Phil's Stupid Question

Sinead O'Connor Details Years of Physical and Sexual Abuse at the Hands of Her Mother: 'She Ran a Torture Chamber'

Sinead O'Connor claims 'possessed' mother 'delighted' in sexually abusing her

"Did they watch?" Dr. Phil asked.

He told Entertainment Tonight that he feared that she was playing a unsafe game with her life."I've been a huge fan of Sinead O'Connor because she's one of the most pure voices in music and here I see this this iconic talent alone in the middle of the night, in a motel room in New Jersey", Dr. Phil recalled.

Foster is credited as the man who found Celine Dion and signed fellow Irish act The Corrs to their first major record deal. I really ache for her, and I think that's part of where my suicidal instinct comes from.

In a clip from a new interview with Dr. Phil, the "Nothing Compares 2 U" hitmaker explained: "The fact that there's such stigma about mental illness means that the illness doesn't get talked about".

It was also revealed that Dr. Phil bosses had opted to help 50-year-old Sinead get her life back on track by covering the costs of her treatment, after she confessed she had tried to kill herself eight times in one year.

Since then, she has faced controversy for some of her actions, like tearing up a picture of Pope John Paul II during a performance for Saturday Night Live in 1992 to protest the child sex abuse scandals of the Catholic Church.

But McGraw also asked her what she loves and misses about her mother. "I give as good as I get", she said.

She opened up to Dr. Phil about a number of suicide attempts, which she believe were brought on by a hysterectomy operation.

"What kicked all of this off, really, was that I had a hysterectomy, a radical hysterectomy, in Ireland two years ago", she continued. "I hope this comforts those of you were concerned". She said, "I was told to leave the hospital two days after the surgery with Tylenol and no hormone replacements and no guidance as to what might happen to me", she said. "She was very, very, very, not well", the 50-year-old Grammy victor alleged to Dr. Phil. "I was a basket case". She won't wash - same for us; five years living with the same clothes, no washing. "When we were children, my sister had lovely red hair, glorious red hair".

"But my mother took it into her head that my sister's hair was ugly, and awful and disgusting. We had a great relationship because she was blown away that I forgave her". And that's why I cut my hair off. I want to use my life, be a teaching tool. "And it was risky to be pretty, too, because I kept getting raped and molested everywhere I went".
