Howedes called time on his lengthy Schalke career last month after learning he would no longer be the club's captain, completing a loan move to Juve.
Howedes will have the unenviable task of replacing Leonardo Bonucci in the Old Lady's defence but according to his agent Volker Struth he could have ended up playing in the Premier League this season instead.
"We held talks with Roma, Leicester and Arsenal because we heard that Inter wanted Mustafi", Struth told Sport Bild.
Arsenal looked into a deal for him amid the speculation linking Shkodran Mustafi with a move to Inter Milan.
However, rumours started to grow that the Germany worldwide defender was keen for a new challenge after having the captaincy taken off him when it emerged that he was no longer first choice in the rearguard.
"And we of course also contacted other clubs".
"With all due respect to Schalke, even if things had gone super there, you want to join a club like Juve when you get the chance".
Juventus' latest recruit performed well in the Bundesliga last season, winning 61% of his aerial duels and completing 128 interceptions and he will be looking to make a similar impact in Italian football.
