David Branch is now on an 11-fight winning streak and is set to face former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold in the main event at UFC Fight Night 116 next weekend. He had been scheduled in a welterweight contest against "Platinum" Mike Perry.
There's no word on what exactly happened to force Alves off the card, but the UFC is said to be scrambling in an attempt to find a late notice replacement to fight Perry. The reasons for his withdrawal, however, are not known yet.
Alves is coming off a decision win over Patrick Cote in April, which was just his second fight since 2015. That fight marked his return to the welterweight division after a spell at lightweight. Perry, meanwhile, knocked out Jake Ellenberger in his last fight, which also went down in April. He's a unsafe fight for anyone in the 170lb division, and the UFC may be hard pressed to find a short notice replacement to throw down with him.
The UFC released the complete fight video for David Branch vs. Krzysztof Jotko from UFC 211 last May. The event will take place at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and will air on FS1.
