All of the Downriver Walmart stores are participating in the annual Wellness Day Saturday.
Walmart Wellness Day started a year ago, and is a partnership between the store and the American Diabetes Association to provide support to those in need. If numbers continues to grow at their current pace, an estimated 814,000 Hoosiers could have diabetes in 2030.
This will be the second Walmart Wellness Day for which the company has teamed with the American Diabetes Association to provide support beyond event day, offering additional support to customers whose screening results indicate a risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Tens of thousands of customers took advantage of this free service following the previous Walmart Wellness day event in June, a news release from Walmart stated.
Shoppers can stop by to learn valuable health information about blood glucose, blood pressure, body mass index, and low-priced immunizations.
The "Walmart Wellness Day" event is offered in partnership with the American Diabetes Association, which estimates almost 8 million people with diabetes are undiagnosed, according to a news release from the company.
