At a time when most of the community Durga Puja committees in Guwahati have gone for luxurious puja by bringing artisans and pandal makers from West Bengal, there are a few puja committees that have kept their faith on artisans who are neglected as "local yokels". This year will mark the 35th "Durgotsava" to be organised at the Kali Bari ground in Sector 26 by the Noida Bengali Cultural Association.Often termed as an equivalent to the festivities in Chittaranjan Park, New Delhi, the Kali Bari serves as a religious and cultural interactive centre for the Bengali community in Noida. Therefore, it undoubtedly has the responsibility to present the most memorable Durga Puja celebrations in the city.
There are four puja pandals in Raha town, nine pandals at Chaparmukh, three at Barapujia, and one at Phulaguri. The organising committee of the Kali Bari puja claims that they have not disappointed the city."Our pandal and idol is a hit in Noida and, even previous year, a newspaper awarded us the best pandal in the city". It is not just the puja pandals that are the crowd pullers. The administration has urged the people, including the puja committees and common citizens, to extend their cooperation to the administration so that during the festival no untoward incident takes place.
