"Since 2015, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and USAO have been investigating the criminal influence of money on coaches and student-athletes who participate in intercollegiate basketball governed by the NCAA".

Also arrested are Tony Bland of USC, Emanuel Richardson of Arizona, and Lamont Evans of Oklahoma State.

Person was among 10 people charged with fraud and corruption including four college basketball coaches, managers and financial advisors and representatives of a major worldwide sportswear company. At least 10 coaches, managers, financial advisors, and Adidas reperesenative Jim Gatto, according to NBC.

"We are committed to playing by the rules", the university said in a statement, "and that's what we expect from our coaches".

"The investigation has revealed several instances in which coaches have exercised that influence by steering players and their families to retain particular advisers, not because of the merits of those advisers, but because the coaches were being bribed by the advisers to do so", the papers said.

Kim made it a point to single out Person in discussing the arrests of the coaches.

The player suspected to have been swayed by Person's influence is five-star recruit Austin Wiley.

As someone who attended the University of Tennessee when all of the other things happened with Pearl, I feel bad for him.

The Auburn Tigers were coming into the 2017-18 college basketball season with high expectations, and, for the first time in a long time, might be favored to make the NCAA Tournament. He is a former player at Auburn and played pro basketball with the Indiana Pacers.

The FBI affidavit says Person accepted $91,500 in bribes during the past year. The charges say Person accepted more than $50,000 in exchange for influencing certain players once they moved up into the National Basketball Association. It was not immediately clear who will represent them in court.
