The 28-year-old will be able to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with clubs from outside of England from January.
However, this does not seem to be the only problem for Arsene Wenger, Arsenal manager, as German worldwide Mesut Ozil may also not sign a new contract. The German global has chose to run his contract down which means he will be a free agent next summer.
Ozil does not intend to sign a new deal with Arsenal as he appears to be keen on seeking a new challenge like Alexis Sanchez. It has been suggested that a switch to Old Trafford might not be as far-fetched as it may seem, saying "Ozil's advisors have put out feelers over a potential move and the feedback has been encouraging".
Ozil's contract at Arsenal runs out at the end of the season.
The German has been asking the Gunners for £250,000 a week.
It would be a chance for the very decorated German midfielder to reunite with manager Jose Mourinho, who was his boss when both were at Real Madrid together.
Mourinho reportedly has Ozil at the top of his wish list, alongside Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann.
Ozil has made no secret of his desire to play for Fenerbahce, telling turkish newspaper Sabah in 2015: "In the future I want to wear a Fenerbahce shirt".
In a throwback to the popular MTV programme "Cribs", the former Real Madrid playmaker gave cameras a tour of his north London home, which comes complete with a bespoke Playstation room.
