The scene in Skibbereen this morning where a house on High Street has been cordoned off for investigation

The man has been named locally as John Ustic, an English national in his 50s.

Gardai are investigating the circumstances surrounding the sudden death of a man at a house in Co Cork.

Officers have cordoned off the scene for investigations to be carried out.

The man who was found dead yesterday morning in his living room in Skibbereen, Cork, was thought to have had an argument beforehand in a auto park.

He had been living in a terraced house on High Street, very close to Skibbereen Garda Station, for at least a year.

He had apparent injuries following an altercation, and was helped to his home by neighbours.

Following the preliminary examination, the body was removed to Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem examination is due to be carried out in the morning.

Supt Ger O'Mahony has urged the public to come forward with any information and those who may have witnessed him make his way to his home on High Street after 7:30 pm on Sunday night.
