While Consumer Reports called the iPhone X an "innovative device with a fantastic camera and beautiful display" and mentioned it in the recommended list, it lost out to its predecessors, iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus in a full comparison of the phones in the durability test category.

"We tumbled three samples of the iPhone X. The first was fine after 50 drops, but the glass on the back was significantly cracked after 100", the publication wrote.

Regardless of when it will come to fruition, there isn't that much time to wait, as January is just around the corner and before you know it, March will be upon us.

Having finished rigorously testing the iPhone X, the magazine's newly published final report states that Apple's notch-sporting Animoji machine is a poorer choice for buyers than Samsung's elite trio.

iPhone X also ranked a bit lower on Consumer Reports' top smartphones list than Samsung's S8, S8+, and Note 8. It released the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X, as in 10 not the alphabet.

The iPhone X didn't fare well on durability or battery tests, but it did earn the highest camera score out of all the smartphones tested by Consumer Reports.

Also the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus scored higher than the iPhone X. Even though the iPhone X has a new FaceID feature to unlock the phone, animation compatibility, OLED screen and a glass back.

Other drop tests seem to indicate that the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus were more durable than competing Samsung Galaxy devices. The other two phones ended up with malfunctioning displays after 50 drops.

In addition, Consumer Reports had some issues with the iPhone X's battery life.

iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are priced at $700 to $800 respectively. The technology is not yet ready for mass production so it probably won't be ready in time for the S9 launch.

Samsung also appears to be considering a new type of security feature for future devices: palm scanning. Because it is expecting strong demand for the technology, Altek is currently developing deep learning ICs (hardware) that will be capable of identifying images aside from processing images and videos. The J2 Pro 2018 display will be about 12.63 cm or 5.0 inches able to support 720 x 1280 pixels.
