The IOC is scheduled to host South and North Korea to discuss the matter in Lausanne, Switzerland on Saturday of next week.

China's exports to North Korea in December declined 23.4 percent from a year earlier to $260 million, Huang told reporters. He says, "anything that lowers tensions is a positive development".

"By doing that, he can help the U.S. build logic for moving toward negotiations", he said.

Bach is supposed to be joined by a delegation from the PyeongChang 2018 Organising Committee and delegations from the National Olympic Committees of both Koreas.

"It will only create divisions within the international community and harm joint efforts to appropriately resolve the Korean peninsula nuclear issue", he said.
