Michael Wolff's book, "Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House", was released Friday.
Without addressing specifics, White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said there were things in the book that were "completely untrue", while Trump denounced comments attributed to Steve Bannon, saying his former chief strategist had "lost his mind". And they say the man has no class.
It depicts a chaotic White House, a president who was ill-prepared to win the office in 2016, and Trump aides who scorned his abilities.
President Donald Trump slammed reports questioning his mental stability in a series of tweets Saturday (Jan. 6) morning, writing he's a "very stable genius" after the publication of an exposé about his first year as President put the White House into damage-control mode. Trump wrote, referring to questions raised about the mental fitness of the former President, who disclosed in 1994 that he had Alzheimer's disease.
In the end, Trump's lawyers' actions made the book seem more appetizing and stimulated pre-launch book sales. "One hundred percent of the people around him" question Trump's fitness for office, Wolff told NBC's "Today" show.
"'The three senior guys in the campaign, ' an incredulous Bannon went on, 'thought it was a good idea to meet with a foreign government inside Trump Tower in the conference room on the 25th floor - with no lawyers".
'They didn't have any lawyers.
"'What has he gotten himself into with the Russians?' pressed (the late Fox News chairman Roger) Ailes".
"Steve Bannon has nothing to do with me or my presidency".
It already has cost him a key backer.
"'I'll call him, ' said Ailes". Losing would work out for everybody. Like for Putin. Sucks up and shits down. I am so happy about this News! He also said he had spoken to Trump since the inauguration. "Bannon snorted. 'Too much, too little-doesn't necessarily change things'".
"Brian Ross, the reporter who made a fraudulent live newscast about me that drove the Stock Market down 350 points (billions of dollars), was suspended for a month but is now back at ABC NEWS in a lower capacity".
"Within weeks of (Trump's Saudi) trip, MBS (Mohammed bin Salman), detaining MBN (Mohammed bin Nayef) quite in the dead of night, would force him to relinquish the Crown Prince title, which MBS would then assume for himself". It is yummy and you don't want to stop.
"The book is clearly going to be sold in the bargain fiction section". It was a joint decision by the couple, and, in some sense, a joint job. I went from VERY successful businessman, to top T.V. Star ... to President of the United States (on my first try).
Mr Trump has dismissed the book as full of lies. "Impatience resulted in Trump's orange-blond hair colour".
