Ex-Roma teammates told me they didn't want Liverpool — Salah

Mohamed Salah

Salah targeting another Premier League record

The Liverpool forward left the Giallorossi in the summer, but he'll be reunited with his former club in the Champions League semi-finals.

"It would be nice to go back to Rome, it's my old club".

Klopp's side, meanwhile, are enjoying a 10-point margin over the fifth-placed reigning Premier League champions as they continue to sit third in the table.

"We made a change because we could make that change - we had a centre-half [Ragnar Klavan] on the bench".

Either side of Salah's goal were efforts from Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, taking their respective Liverpool tallies for the season to 25 and 17, meaning the prolific front three have now combined for 82 goals.

But, with potentially seven games remaining for his team, Salah may yet challenge Rush's all-time club record - 47 goals in a blistering 1983-84 campaign. They lost Mo and Emerson Palmieri, two really key players for them, and they still play a really good season, fighting for the Champions League again.

And Klopp is hopeful that Liverpool can wrap up qualification before their penultimate league fixture of the season.

Roma sporting director Monchi believes the tie also offers the Italians hope of progress.

"We need to think about ourselves and try to reproduce what we were able to show against Barcelona".

Liverpool face an anxious wait after defender Dejan Lovren hobbled out of Saturday's Premier League win against Bournemouth.

"Two teams with great tradition in European and world football, both play attractive football and love the sport".
